Jacob is received Master carpenter and cabinetmaker of the City and suburbs of Paris. He is 26 years old. His early Louis XV style evolved when the Louis XVI style appeared around 1762, twelve years before the king&#8217;s ascension to the throne. The ended tribulations of the Revolution bring Jacob to the period of the Directory, of which he is one of the most brilliant representatives. His mahogany furniture has an incomparable line that will tie the style of the time to his name. In 1796 he sold his studio to his sons Georges the elder and Fran\u00e7ois Honor\u00e9 and founded in 1803 the firm Jacob-Desmalter. He is the main supplier of the Emperor whose furniture he executes on drawings by Percier and Fontaine. He also works with Jean D\u00e9mosth\u00e8ne Dugourc and all the great craftsmen of his time, mentioned in this book. In 1813, the Jacob-Desmalter house went bankrupt.
