Henri Le Sidaner

Paysages intimes

After the success of the seven events dedicated to the painter in Europe for the twenty past years and of the exhibition in five Japanese museums in 2011-2012, and on the occasion of the retrospective started in Holland in autumn 2013, we publish the most important monograph ever dedicated to Henri Le Sidaner. The author, Yann Farinaux-Le Sidaner, recounts his ancestor’s life and journey and goes back to the places which inspired his work. Full of informations patiently collected through the world for twenty years, countless anecdotes and unpublished documents, this book tells the career of this great intimist painter, loved by the writers and poets of his generation, who was very successfull in the public’s eyes and one of the French art’s glories. Among the places that the artist painted and loved, neither England nor America, where Le Sidaner has always been welcomed and where all his most attractive works emigrate for more than a century, are forgotten.
