Author
No general study about landscape painting between 1750 and 1815 has been published since the exhibition about French landscape from Poussin to Corot, in 1925. A list of artists who devoted themselves to it makes appear about 400 painters and designers names. Some of them are barely known but others are famous: Joseph Vernet, Hubert Robert. In an original vision the author shows as kinds of landscapes the paintings of battle and the naval battles which cannot be separated from the vews of fields, ports and seas.
